YBhg. Dato' Dr Quaza Nizamuddin bin Hassan Nizam

Academic qualification: 1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia in 1984. 2. Master of Science in Tropical Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Veterinary Medicine from the Free University Berlin, Germany in 1994. Experience and Positions held: He served as the Director General of Veterinary Services Malaysia from 5th June 2017 till 9th March 2020. During this period he was the President of Malaysian Veterinary Council, Chairman of the Animal Welfare Board and Chairman of the Feed Board. He has experience in teaching para-professionals and farmers at the Veterinary Training Institute. He has also successfully managed large beef farm (2000 heads) and dairy farm (2000 heads). He has extensive knowledge, skills and expertise in the field of livestock production and animal health having worked with stakeholders and the industry for the past 36 years. He has been involved in the strategic planning and implementation of the national dairy program to increase to 100% self sufficiency level in fresh milk production. He was also instrumental in planning the national beef production strategies to increase the self-sufficiency level to 30% from 23%. During his service, effective disease (animal and zoonotic) control measures were put in place which resulted in reduced to no disease occurrence of significance. He has been involved in establishing the rules and regulations under the Feed Act 2009 and also responsible in the formulation of Animal Welfare Act 2015 in Malaysia. He has written and published in various journals and presented papers in conferences. He has authored chapters in Animal Welfare. Internationally, he was the Vice-President for the Regional Commission of OIE(World Animal Health Organisation) for Asia, Far East and Oceania from May 2019 till 9th March 2020. He was a member of the OIE Regional Animal Welfare Advisory Group for Asia, Far East and Oceania from 2015-2020. He also served as the Adjunct Professor at Universiti Putra Malaysia from 2018-2021. He was also the Past President(2016-2018) of the Veterinary Association of Malaysia(VAM). He also served as a Director in RISDA Livestock Sdn. Bhd. from 2019-2020. Currently, he is the: 1. President, Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations(FAVA) 2020-2022. 2. Founding Fellow, Malaysian College of Veterinary Specialists (MCVS). 3. Director of Malaysian Equine Council 4. Independent Non-Executive Director Farm Fresh Berhad, Malaysia (Public listed company in Malaysia). 5. Board member of the Totalisator Board Malaysia (Statutory body under the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia). 6. Director of several private companies.
