Dr. Vickneshwaran Muthu

Dr. Vickneshwaran Muthu obtained his Medial Doctor (MD) from Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara, Indonesia and Master Public Health (MPH) from University Malaya in 2002 and 2012, respectively. Currently, his position is a Senior Principal Assistant Director in Zoonosis Sector, Disease Control Division, Ministry Of Health and been working in the sector since 2012. He completed housemanship at University Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital in 2004 and continued as medical officer in Hospital Tunku Jaffar, Seremban; District Hospital Jempol, Jempol and Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur. In early 2009, He moved to primary care as a Medial Officer in Taman Ehsan Community Clinic and in 2010 as the second Epidemiology Officer in Gombak District, Selangor. His current responsibilities are monitoring the occurrence and the outbreak of Zoonotic diseases and ensuring surveillance, prevention, control and management of Zoonosis, Neglected Tropical Diseases, emerging and reemerging Zoonosis and Antimicrobial Resistance in the community. He is a core team member in National Environmental Health Action Plan, working committee member in National Antimicrobial Resistance Committee Group 2 and member of the Asia Pacific Alliance for the Control of Influenza (APACI), Malaysia Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and Negeri Sembilan Medical Council. He has been awarded Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) from the State of Negeri Sembilan in 2008. He also held various administrative responsibilities in Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health.
