Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Omar Universiti Putra Malaysia

Dr AR Omar (aro), obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Universiti Pertanina Malaysia, Malaysia in 1991 and PhD in Immunology from Cornell University, the USA in 1997. Upon completion his PhD, he joined the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM as a lecturer and was promoted to Professor of Immunology and Infectious Diseases in 2008. He was the Deputy Director and the Director of Institute Bioscience (IBS) at UPM from 2006 until 2011 and 2011 to 2019, respectively. Currently, he is the Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM and principal investigator at Laboratory of Vaccine and Biomolecules, IBS. He has more than 20 years teaching and research experience in avian disease and health. His research interest is in using biotechnology and immunogenomics approaches in the development of diagnostics, vaccines, and therapeutics against poultry diseases. We work closely with various agencies and industries related to poultry health and production. He is also the regional advisor of Global Alliance for Research on Avian Diseases (GARAD), an organization based at UK with the primary aim to share and exchange latest research advances, promote collaborations and maximize the use of resources and expertise to control of avian diseases. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Avian Pathology journal. He published actively in various journals related to poultry health and diseases, which can be accessed via PubMed, NCBI site using search name Omar AR with Scopus Author ID: 7202864053.
